A stake is the amount you bet on one spin. On most modern slots it is shown as one figure, the total bet, and adjusted with plus and minus buttons.
On GB-licensed online slots the maximum stake per spin is limited by law: £5 for players aged 25 and over from 9 April 2025, and £2 for players aged 18 to 24 from 21 May 2025. The limit applies per game cycle, and any extra stake inside a feature counts towards it. See stake limits.
Stake size does not change a game's RTP or the odds of any outcome. It scales everything: wins, losses and the expected cost of play. Doubling your stake doubles the expected loss for the same number of spins.
