Megaways is a ways-to-win mechanic created by Big Time Gaming in which each reel shows a random number of symbols on every spin. Because the symbols per reel change, so does the number of ways.
In the standard version there are six reels, each showing between two and seven symbols, so the ways range from 2^6 = 64 up to 7^6 = 117,649. Many Megaways games add a horizontal reel above the main grid that contributes extra symbols to some reels. Wins pay left to right on adjacent reels, as in any ways game.
Big Time Gaming licenses the mechanic to other studios, so Megaways titles come from many providers. Most combine it with cascading reels and a free spins round with a growing multiplier.
The ways count on a spin looks impressive but the paytable is priced to match; Megaways games are typically high volatility. See our Megaways feature page for more.
