A multiplier increases a win by a fixed factor: a £2 win with a 3x multiplier pays £6. Multipliers are one of the main ways slots create large wins from ordinary symbol combinations.
They appear in several forms:
- attached to a wild, multiplying any win it completes
- as a symbol that lands on the reels and applies to the spin's total
- as a progressive multiplier that rises with each cascade or free spin
- on grid positions that grow each time a win lands there
When several multipliers apply, games either add them together or multiply them, and the difference matters a lot; the paytable says which. Multipliers are why feature results range so widely, and they push volatility up.
Wins are still subject to the game's max win. See our multipliers feature page.
