Pay anywhere means a win is formed by landing a minimum number of the same symbol anywhere in view, regardless of reel, row or whether they touch. A game might pay, for example, for eight or more matching symbols on the grid.
It is a step beyond cluster pays, which needs symbols to be adjacent. Here only the count matters, so the paytable lists prizes by number of symbols rather than by line.
Pay-anywhere games almost always use cascading reels, often under a studio name such as tumble, so each win clears and refills the screen. Free spins rounds commonly add multiplier symbols that apply to the total of a tumble sequence.
The format is sometimes called "scatter pays" because every symbol behaves like a scatter. As with any mechanic, the paytable is set to the published RTP. See our pay anywhere feature page.
