How Folsom Prison plays
Cockroaches and Cockroach Nests open locked cells, and wilds land on any reel but the first. Two scatters unlock the middle rows of reel 5 and turn into xWays, xSplit, a wild or a Cockroach Nest. xWays reveal a paying symbol and add ways; xSplit on the middle rows of reels 2-5 splits what it touches. Three scatters give 8+ Walk the Line spins and four give 8+ The Chair spins. An optional Toast Bet (xBet) costs 20% extra and guarantees a scatter on reel 2.
Theme: Prison (violent, dark humour). Filed under Crime and heists, Horror and dark.
Features in this game
- xWays: A Nolimit City mechanic where special symbols reveal several copies of one symbol, multiplying the number of ways to win on that spin.
- Split symbols: A symbol that counts as two or more of the same symbol in one position, raising the count for a ways or line win.
- Grid expansion: A feature that adds rows, reels or positions to the grid during play, increasing the ways or space for wins.
- Mystery symbols: Blank or question-mark symbols that all reveal the same randomly chosen symbol after the reels stop.
- Free spins: A bonus round of spins played at no extra cost, usually triggered by scatter symbols and often with extra features.
What the figures mean
An RTP of 96.07% is a long-run average across millions of spins. It works out at a house edge of 3.93%, so every £100 staked costs £3.93 on average. A session of 200 spins at £1 stakes £200, and the expected cost of that session is £7.86, although the real result will usually land a long way either side. Work out your own figures.
The provider rates volatility as Insane. That describes how winnings are spread: higher volatility means longer runs with little back and rarer, larger wins. It does not change the average. More on volatility, or see it in a simulation.
Published hit frequency is 22.62%, meaning roughly 23 spins in every 100 return something. Many of those returns are smaller than the stake.
