The rule
Online operators must verify a customer's name, address and date of birth before the customer can gamble or play free-to-play versions of games. Previously there was a 72-hour window. Gambling is 18+ (the National Lottery is 18+ since October 2021, not relevant to slots).
Who it applies to
All remote (online) licensees
What it means for you
- You cannot play a demo version of a slot at a GB-licensed casino until you have been verified. That is why "free slots" pages at licensed casinos ask you to sign up first.
- Gambling in Great Britain is for 18s and over. Under-18s gambling online is unlawful for the operator.
- More on free slots and demo play.
