Money Honey was a slot machine made by Bally in 1963. It was the first electromechanical slot with a bottomless hopper, which allowed it to pay large numbers of coins automatically, without an attendant.
Before it, payouts were limited by how many coins the machine could dispense, and bigger prizes needed staff. The bottomless hopper changed what slots could offer and helped them become a larger part of casino floors.
It sits between Charles Fey's mechanical Liberty Bell and Fortune Coin's early video slot of 1976 in the usual history of the machine. The lever stayed for familiarity, but the electrics now did the work. See our history page.
