GAMSTOP

The free national self-exclusion scheme that blocks you from every GB-licensed online gambling site for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years.

GAMSTOP is the free national self-exclusion scheme for online gambling in Great Britain. Registering once blocks you from every gambling website and app licensed by the Gambling Commission for the period you choose: 6 months, 1 year or 5 years.

Taking part has been mandatory for GB-licensed online operators since 31 March 2020. Operators check new and existing customers against the register, and must stop marketing to anyone on it. The exclusion cannot be ended early; when it expires you have to contact GAMSTOP to lift it.

It covers online gambling only. Betting shops, casinos and arcades use separate schemes. It also cannot block unlicensed sites, which do not check the register; using such sites removes the protections that GB licensing provides.

For support alongside GAMSTOP, the National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, is on 0808 8020 133, free and open 24 hours. See our GAMSTOP page.
