The Gambling Commission, often called the UKGC, regulates commercial gambling in Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. It was set up under the Gambling Act 2005. Northern Ireland is outside that Act and has its own rules.
The Commission issues operating licences and sets the conditions licensees must follow, mainly through the LCCP and the Remote Technical Standards. It can fine operators, attach conditions and suspend or revoke licences. Every licensee has an account number, and the Commission's public register shows who holds a licence and any enforcement action.
Rules it has introduced for online slots include the 2.5-second minimum spin time and the ban on autoplay and turbo spin (31 October 2021), stake limits (from 9 April 2025 for over-25s and 21 May 2025 for 18 to 24 year olds) and a 10x cap on bonus wagering (from 19 January 2026). See UK slot rules for the detail.
