The Remote Technical Standards are the Gambling Commission's technical requirements for remote gambling and the software behind it. GB-licensed operators and game suppliers must meet them as a condition of their licence.
They cover areas such as:
- RNG quality and the fairness of game outcomes
- information shown to players, including rules and RTP
- game design, including the 2.5-second minimum game cycle and the bans on autoplay, turbo spin and slam stops from 31 October 2021
- display of net position and time played
- safer gambling tools and account security
Compliance is checked by approved test houses before a game goes live. The standards are also the basis on which, on 17 January 2020, the Commission told licensees that bonus buy features break its rules. See UK slot rules.
